Miami Heat star LeBron James and coach Erik Spoelstra have heaped praise on the rise of Jeremy Lin and the shocking turnaround of the Knicks. LeBron said that, “He’s playing and they’re winning. I’ve heard about how he’s staying with a friend, and about his getting a cut and being a week away from not knowing if he was going to stick with the team, about how (the Knicks) might release him to sign Mike James. Best of luck to him. I don’t want him to be good when (the Knicks) are playing us, but other than that, good for him.” ESPN’s Kevin Arnovitz quoted Spoelstra saying that, “Being an Asian-American, it’s great to see him break some barriers. As a fan of the game, I root for him. It’s a great sports story, in general.” Surely the ‘Linsanity’ is not going to die down soon.
There have been various reports in and around the internet that the LA Lakers are monitoring the situation of Gilbert Arenas and a possible signing is on the cards. Adrian Wojnarowski, a Yahoo! Sports NBA insider claimed that a private workout of Gilbert Arenas was attended by some notable Lakers officials this past Sunday in southern California. Further reports suggest that there were no visible signs of the knee injuries that heave haunted him for some time now and that Arenas seemed to move rather efficiently even at the age of 30. Arenas looks to me at best a low risk, high reward option that should not be passed up by the Lakers. In all honesty he looks like the perfect gamble.
