Daily NBA Rumor Onslaught: Kevin Garnett Deal to Include Stoudemire?
Kevin Garnett is going to be traded. It's just a matter of who the Timberwolves and a 3rd team will receive.

The latest rumor would appear to be the best possible deal for all involved. Last night it was said that Boston would receive Shawn Marion, Minnesota gets the 5th pick (and player to be named later, i love that), while Phoenix takes home the big prize and ticket. Well, it's becoming evident that no one really wants to play for the Celtics. Matrix put an X through that idea.

This morning the trade just took a considerable leap forward, at least in terms of its juiciness. How about this?

Phoenix Gets: KG
Atlanta Gets: Amare Stoudemire
Minnesota Gets: Atlanta's 3rd and 11th pick

Where do I sign? Let's get this deal over with. The Suns become the NBA favorites, Timberwolves can finally make up for all the 1st round picks lost and rebuild, while the Hawks instantly get an exciting offensive big man. Would you agree to this trade in each situation?

Some other trade winds:

Warriors turned down Monta Ellis for 11th Pick
If the above option doesn't work, Suns are interested in Charlotte's #8
Kings say Bibby and Artest are available
. Yes and No.
Atlanta and Seattle also working on a Ridnour deal, giving the Sonics a boatload of picks

The Lakers are also trying to get KG via ATL's 3rd pick in a last ditch effort.  Only reason I bring this up is because there's a decent chance Phoenix will have qualms about trading away Amare.

Minny needs to be able to dump some bad contracts as well but this would give them the fresh start they're looking for...

The Suns would be frightening.

The bad contracts are involved, the Hawks and Suns would each get some Timberwolve waste as well.

how does losing Stoudemire and gaining an aging KG make the Suns a better favorite then they were? Uh-- hello? Nash and Stoudemire are perfect pick-and-rollers. Stoudemire is MUCH more dominant inside than KG, and is more athletic... this will HURT Phoenix. ESPECIALLY if you people want PHX to beat SA in the postseason. Won't happen. I like this deal because it makes it harder for PHX to beat us. Dallas will choke as always, and that means a repeat is more likely for San Antonio with this trade going through.

it won't. The Suns will have a rough start, with that big of a change in their inside (PF-C) presense, i think they'll be lucky to come close to 60 wins. A change like this would put the Suns in the mid 50s, like 55 wins. If they keep Stoude, they'll push for another 60.

Offense isn't the problem.  Stoudemire doesn't rebound or play defense.  KG does.

But is it enough to put them over the hump?  I don't think so, plus they'd be giving away their future.  Thats a tough pill to swallow if you're the Suns.

I'm not sure it does but I'm convinced that another year of tweaking doesn't help either.

Nash is the real engine to this machine so they have 2-3 years before he breaks down.

Of the three combinations,

KG+Nash+Marion

Stoudemire+Nash+Marion

KG+Nash+Stoudemire

I think that the top one has the best chance of beating the Spurs and the Mavericks.

i don't think KG can play the style of the Suns though... they may get a decent increase in defense, but they will hurt in all other categories. Stoudemire actually did well with Duncan, if someone wants to challenge him in the post, Amare does a decent job, plus Marion is great coming off the weak side to swat shots... with KG, the system is going to shift, and Nash won't have too many of those slick pick-and-rolls that lead to super slam dunks that give the crowd and Suns team energy.

i guess the only thing we can do is wait and see what the offices of PHX want to do... i hope it does help, but looking at a SA-PHX match-up, the Spurs will still have the advantage. Duncan can still play a little better than KG, and in the postseason, Duncan plays much much better. The Spurs popped KG and the Wolves a few years back with ease (3-1 i think) so i'm not too worried about the KG-Duncan show. Nash will still be controlled by Parker and Bowen. If he tries to pick-and-roll with KG, that leads to possible turnovers, and KG can't move like Amare. Duncan would seal him before he could do an "electrifying" dunk.

I don't like this at all.  Stat is becoming a better rebounder and defender, and he absolutely wants to dominate the game -- he's like KG was 7 years ago.  And that's the key, he's SEVEN YEARS YOUNGER!!!  There's no way that you make that deal, the difference between KG and Marion improves the Suns a ton...the difference between Amare and KG improves them incrementally, and gives the Suns many many many years to watch Amare destroy the league and remember when he was ours.

I think Pheonix would be fools to let Amare go . Short term it might be better (for the Suns) but for the long term, Amare,  if he stays healthy will be as good as KG in his prime (which was a couple of years ago). So they are hoping this is it the all or nothing year  and KG just might help them get it now rather than later (when Nash is too old) . But i still like Amare more than KG.

I think PHX improves with this trade (maybe more than some people realize). However, I'm not sure if they should make this deal unless they can also move up into the top 8 or so in the draft (in another deal if need be, but not involving Marion).

KG can play the type of style the Suns play thats why he wants to go there. Yes i agree that KG is older but the Suns are nothin without Nash and he has 3 years left in him, as does KG. I also think KG is the only PF that can give Duncan problems.  The numbers part KG is by himself in Minny, he is a better rebounder and shot blocker and a better jump shooter, the only reason AS has a better percentage is because of his dunks which with KG there KG will get that too.  The Suns are tryng to win now not the future.
