Blog Photo - Dale Jr WINS at MichiganEven if you aren't a NASCAR fan, you know the name Dale Earnhardt Jr.  You've undoubtedly heard about his winless streak.  Now that is over.

In a race that saw three of Joe Gibbs Racings' cars go out, Dale Earnhardt Jr. led the most laps...by a lot and held off Tony Stewart to finally get the win his fans, crew, family and friends have been waiting for.

He was driving a beautiful black car sponsoring "The Dark Knight Rises" and the car drove like the Batmobile.  As Kyle Petty said Dale Jr and his crew have been building toward this all year long.  In the closing laps of the race, Jr had the dominant car by far.  He continued to pull away from Tony Stewart, opening up a more than five second lead.

The last 10 laps seemed to take forever.....and ever.  Jr's car seemed to be on rails, and he was calm in the car, not communicating much, just getting the laps counted down by Crew Chief, Steve Letarte.

Even when he crossed the finish line, he just giggled and thanked his crew.  The stands erupted and every fan was on their feet.  Cheering.

It was a long time coming, but it is done.  Congratulations Dale Jr.

You know how much I don't like Junior, Debbie, but I am really glad for you. And quite frankly, glad for Junior.  He is a good guy.  Actually, a damn good guy. I'm also glad he won as a dominant car and not some luck.  His car was flying at the end.

I was also incredibly glad it was a dominant win and not a fuel mileage game.  I was surprised at the number of crew members who came out to pit road to wish him congratulations.  Also, Wendy Venturini said virtually every driver came to Victory Lane to congratulate him.  Just goes to show that it isn't just the fans who think he's awesome.

And thanks, Mike, I do appreciate that :)

I'm just sitting here, reflecting on how fortunate I am that I came home today.  It wasn't supposed to rain, but it actually has poured most of the day.  My son is working, so I thought I had to wait for him to get off at 7, but he decided to stay out in the trailer.  I wasn't supposed to be here, and yet I am.  What a wonderful day!!!

And Dale Jr also remains the only driver to have completed every single lap so far this year.  He has now led more laps so far this season than he did all of last year.

He doesn't take over the points lead, Matty has that....by 4 points

And much like the crews came out on pit road to congratulate Dale Sr in 1998, many of the crews came out on pit road to congratulate Dale Jr.  Damn, I'm crying.
