NBA Triple Threat: Your daily round-up of last night's action in the Association.Dallas 112 Phoenix 97
Dallas started out the game with two straight 30+ point quarters and used the second half to cruise to the victory. Dirk Nowitzki had 37 points through 3 quarters and finished with 39 for the game. JJ Barea, the backup point guard turned starter out shined fellow starting point guard Jason Kidd with 18 points. Among those 18 points was a key personal 10-0 run in the second half. After being dominated in the first half, the Suns tried to play the small ball that made them so fun to watch and trimmed the lead to 10. That's when Barea took over and pushed the game out of the Sun's reach. Steve Nash returned after missing one game and had a 20 point 10 assist performance. Amare Stoudemire had 28 points for the Suns as well. Phoenix fell to 11-9 and are tied for 8th in the Western conference.
San Antonio 108 Denver 91
About the best thing that happened for Denver tonight was when their mascot hit a half court shot during some time out entertainment. San Antonio, as Pat pointed out in the Live Thread, dominated the second quarter and the rest of the quarters were relatively even. The Spurs shot 50% on the evening. They were led by Tim Duncan's stat sheet stuffing night of 21 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 blocks. Tony Parker put in 22 points and Manu Ginobili contributed 21 points for the Spurs as well. The Nuggets were paced by J.R. Smith's 15 point, 10 rebound, 4 assist effort. With the win, the Spurs moved into a 8th place tied with the Suns in the Western conference.
