San Jose Wins 3-2 OT Thriller To Force Game 6
Brendan Morrow scored three goals last night in a 3-2 OTL to the Sharks. Thing is, two of the goals were disallowed.
Midway through the second period after Jere Lehtinen scored on the power play, Morrow drove to the net and as he slid to a stop in the crease, the feed from Ribeiro bounced off of his skate and into the net. It was signaled goal on the ice, but like almost all goals in the playoffs, went to review. Although there was no kicking motion and the puck merely deflected off his skate (this isn't only my observation, but both commentators as well), the guys upstairs disallowed the goal, which would prove costly.
Morrow again scored towards the end of the second period, and this time, it counted. Taking a 2-0 lead into the third, the Stars wouldn't have it for long. Milan Michalek scored 6:20 into the period, followed by Brian Campbell five minutes later. Morrow's third goal, which was disallowed and rightly so, would have put the Stars up 3-2. But the puck rolled in after gloving it before ever touching his stick. Regulation ended in a 2-2 tie and the game went to the third overtime of the series, with Dallas winning the previous two. However, Joe Pavelski scored only 1:05 into overtime to win the game for the Sharks, forcing a game 6 back in Dallas on Sunday at 9:00pm on Versus.
