For the Stars this was nothing short of a testament of their resilience in the face of odds as they faced the Winnipeg Jets on Monday at the American Airlines Center and even though two of their shots ricocheted off the posts they still stayed in the game and in the end their persistence was rewarded with a 2-1 win.

With that the Stars got 2 more points to go with which improved their standing. The win also proved that the Stars were not a team that gave up but stepped their game up a notch when the game got tougher. The Phoenix Coyotes lost their game against the New York Rangers so that meant the Stars were one point closer to them and the last wild card playoff spot remaining in the Western Conference. On Tuesday night both teams will be playing their matches. The Coyotes will be playing Pittsburgh Penguins and the Stars against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Stars Ray Whitney said that they were looking at other teams and their standings in the Conference to see how well they stood up against them. As the last 3 weeks of the regular games draw, all the teams will be putting up their toughest fights yet and the last few games will be the most highly competed ones.

“We all look up to see the out-of-town scores,” Whitney said. “Everybody these last three weeks will be doing that. We're certainly watching what the other teams are doing.”
