By now, most have seen yesterday's huge crash by Dario Franchitti. The thing started when Franchitti and Dan Wheldon touched wheels. While the video possibly points to Wheldon moving in on Dario, causing the wreck, no one had specifically blamed him.Until Danica opened her mouth.
"Dan just came up and hit Dario and Dario flipped around. Dan drives really aggressively out there. He said it himself on pit lane at Milwaukee that he's tougher. I don't know if tougher means rougher, because he doesn't play completely fair out there. I even said that on my radio, 'Dan better play fair today. I'm serious because he likes to drive up and intimidate you.'Now, to be fair to Danica, she had the best vantage point, right in front of the wheel touch, and I'm sure she's trying to stick up for a teammate. However, this is not her first problem with Wheldon, and note that Dario hasn't cast any blame. It smacks of still holding a grudge.
Race winner Tony Kanaan had a more moderate, but still strong, reaction to everything.
"I think we need to go home and think about how we race each other because what I saw out there wasn't pretty."Translation: there's no reason to call out one driver for overaggressive driving, when everyone was guilty. That, Mrs. Hospenthal, is known as a mature and sensible reaction. You should try it sometime.
