Through all of regulation and 4:57 into overtime, Dante Jackson was 0-8 shooting. His 2 points had come via free throws, but he was shooting terribly from the floor. However, with his Xavier Musketeers trailing Virginia Tech 62-60 with 3 seconds left in OT, Jackson took the inbound pass and launched a prayer from half court as time expired. Somehow, that was
his first field goal of the night, but it was the only one that mattered, as it resulted in a 63-62 win for Xavier.
I'm not sure if I would have given it to the guy who was 0-8 in that situation, but it looks like it paid off this time for Xavier, who will go on to play Memphis in the finals of the Puerto Rico Tip Off today.
