Darius Songaila Suspended for Cavs-Wizards Game 6
Where Inconsistent Discipline Continues to Happen

The "Jordan Rules" was dubbed by the Detroit Pistons for their aggressive defensive strategy against Michael Jordan, however, many also referred to the "Rules" as a very liberal approach to calling fouls.

Conspiracy theorists were all over the NBA for its preferential treatment to help ratings, etc.

Well, it appears David Stern has effectively transitioned to the "King Rules." Darius Songaila has been suspended for tonight's Game 6 for what appeared to be a punch thrown in Game 5.

Upon second and third glance, it looks like an inadvertent reaction to Darius and Lebron's arms being tangled. Either way, you've got to be kidding with a suspension.

"We got tangled up, my arm got caught inside of his and when I tried to free myself, my arm caught him in the face," Songaila said yesterday before the suspension was announced. "It was an accident. He lifted my arm and it caught him in the face. If anything, it was caused by him. It wasn't intentional or anything."

Eddie Jordan, as you an imagine, is even less thrilled.

"I stand my ground. I thought he got tangled up with LeBron and LeBron tried to get untangled and in his method of getting untangled, Darius's arm flew up and at his chest." "And LeBron's a terrific actor. We've all seen his commercials."

This is just the latest example in what is an embarrassing inconsistency in the NBA's disciplinary actions.

Kevin Garnett was not fined for tossing an official, no penalty at all in fact. Zazu Pachulia intently head-butted KG. It was a light tap, but at least you have 100% proof of his intentions.

Brendan Haywood was surprisingly not suspended for completely tossing Lebron aside earlier in the series, with very little effort made to even locate the ball. Many other blatant shots on players have been happening throughout the playoffs, but only this Songalia love tap has earned a suspension.

You know what still deserves a suspension? This Kirilenko wild flop. We posted on this yesterday, but please do your part to stop this embarrassing behavior. Fixing Stern and Stu Jackson's interpretations of the rules will take some more time.

It's really hard to ever take the NBA seriously.
