Last night a guy named Darwin Head (great name) got the chance to shoot a bunch of pucks at the net during the first intermission of the Avalanche/Canucks game to potentially win $1 million.
And he won.
Now, far be it from me to crack jokes about the NHL, but do they even have that kind of money? Also, how in God's name did they choose a guy for this event who spent most of his life playing hockey and not some 97-year-old grandmother?
I swear the NHL is run by complete idiots. Nice work by the way, Head.
Don't let the NHL fool you, they have a lot more money than most people believe...it's their marketing that sucks.
Besides, usually when there are contests like this, they're sponsored. I could be wrong but it looks like this one was a TSN thing (here's an article stating it's TSN's 2nd annual million dollar shootout).
And as far as them choosing him rather some old grandma, according to said article above: Head's name was chosen at random from more than 8.5 million contest entrants.

Oh Jess, why do you have to take the fun out of the post? I was aware of the article before I did the post. They still should have fixed it so a 97-year-old grandma got the call.

With a name like Darwin Head maybe they thought they DID fix it - sounds like a little old man.
