Daryl Washington looking forward to playing with the Cardinals
“Yeah, but I couldn’t even do that, man. It just felt too weird. I mean, it was brutal,” he said. “I’d have to record it and then go back and watch it later. It was kind of crazy having to watch it from home. I had never done that before. It was just a different thing.”
Washington is an uptight player who is focused on improving his game all the time. This ambition has been the energy which fuels him to give his all in every match but has also led him into trouble. Not only did he violate the substance abuse policy, he also got into trouble with his ex-girlfriend due to which felony charges were filed under domestic abuse.
Four games is a long time and are bound to affect a player’s performance. Only with regular drills do players get to keep their teamwork intact. As Washington has been out and will be starting as linebacker against the Carolina Panthers, there is no doubt he will be anxious. Even coach Bruce Arians knew it.
“Yeah, I’m a little worried he might be a little overanxious,” he said.
Even with all the troubles he is in, football would be a welcome distraction for Washington.
“It feels good. It’s been a long four weeks of training, though, Monday through Saturday,” he said. Hopefully, I’m not too tight and my muscles are loose and I can just go out there and run around and make plays.”
The Cardinals are eager to have him back in the team. Defensive end Calais Campbell was excited to play with him.
“I can’t wait for Sunday. He’s a huge part of our defense, a huge part of our team,” he said. He’s probably the best player on the field, hands down. I’m very excited to get him back and I think he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with now that he’s back.”
And the Cardinals have reason to be excited. Washington is an exceptionally fast linebacker who can run sidelines faster than almost all players. He is a very valuable asset for the Cardinals because he can not only tackle but can cover and make quite good interceptions.
