The new Old Trafford boss David Moyes understands it will probably be impossible to fill in the boots of Sir Alex Ferguson, but he is determined to bring out his best at Manchester United. In an interview to talkSPORT the former Everton manager claimed he was “working hard behind the scenes” to create the possible team for the new season.
David Moyes insisted he had big ambitions and the desire to bring the “best players in the world” to Manchester United. The Premier League champions have allotted David Moyes with a big budget for bringing in top notch player. David Moyes is expected to re-launch efforts to sign in Everton left-back Leighton Baines with an increased bid. The Scotsman’s interest in Barcelona’s talented young midfielder Thiago Alcantara will also reignite transfer talks.
So far Manchester United haven’t made any big signings. David Moyes has stressed that the “lack of activity” should not be taken as a sign for no signings. David Moyes believes Manchester United will have new stars in the squad this summer.
“Don't be kidded by the lack of activity,” David Moyes said. “Take it from me, we are working hard behind the scenes to try and improve the squad. The big thing is that Manchester United will always be in for the best players in the world. We are also very interested in developing our own players and bringing in potential players for the future. We are working on that just now.”
David Moyes admits he has already become an avid fan of Wilfried Zaha. The young England international has been included in Manchester United’s preseason tour of Far East and Australia. The 20-year-old forward joined Manchester United’s preseason training camp on Monday and immediately impressed David Moyes. The manager confirmed the young winger will travel with the team when Manchester United leaves for Bangkok to begin their tour.
“He will travel with us on the tour,” David Moyes said. “He has only been with us for two days but I will take him away, see how he goes and have a look. This club has a great record of putting young players in the team. Hopefully Wilfried can be one of them.”
Manchester United will continue their pursuit for the signatures of Leighton Baines and Thiago Alcantara during their preseason tour. If transfer negotiations reach a conclusion, the player could join the team on tour after clearing the medical test.
