David Price wins American League Cy Young Award

David Price wins the AL Cy Young, barely edging last year's winner Justin Verlander

Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement-US PRESSWIREIn an incredibly close race, Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price took home the Cy Young award today, narrowly beating Justin Verlander.

Price took 14 first place votes to Verlander's 13, and they both received 13 second place votes.

Rays closer Fernando Rodney, who finished 5th overall, was the only other player who received a first place vote.

Price led the AL with a 2.56 ERA, and tied for the league lead with Jered Weaver, who finished 3rd in the voting.

Felix Hernandez finished 4th, followed by Rodney, and then Chris Sale, Jim Johnson, Matt Harrison and Yu Darvish.

Congratulations to David Price on a fantastic season and his first Cy Young award.
