The Mitchell Report is looming in the next few days (we think) so this leaderboard could change drastically, but as it stands right now one team is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest when it comes to steroid involvement. Ex-Oriole David Segui joined a growing list of obscure baseball players yesterday when he confirmed his steroid use and expects to be included in the Mitchell investigation.
"I have nothing to hide. I have no problem talking about what I have done," said Segui, who spent eight of his 15 big league seasons with the Orioles. "But I never want any other players to think I was out there talking about their business. Because I do know a lot, but people have told me things in confidence and I don't want to be spreading that."DC Sports Bog (Dan Steinberg) adds Segui to the list of Orioles involved in this on-going steroid mess:
"The Orioles, as near as I can tell, are still comfortably near the top of the pack in ominous name-linking stories. In no particular order, we have Rafael Palmeiro getting suspended and also accusing Miguel Tejada in the infamous B12 incident; Jason Grimsley's HGH affidavit, which reportedly included the names of Tejada, Gibbons (who ardently denied the claims) and Brian Roberts; Darnell McDonald getting suspended after leaving the organization; the allegation that an HGH prescription was sent to Jerry Hairston Jr.'s address; Gary Matthews being linked to the Albany DA raid (although MLB announced he wouldn't be suspended); Fernando Tatis being linked to the Mitchell investigation; Sammy Sosa pleading language difficulties in Congress; and both Gibbons and Segui confirming they used."I full expect Tejada to be included when this report comes out, so things continue to look up for the Baltimore Orioles.
