David Silva snubs Real Madrid for Manchester City’s contract-extension
Manchester City ace David Silva still has two years left on his contract with Manchester City. However, the Eastlands want to ensure the Spain international midfielder commits this future to team.
Rumors about David Silva’s contract extension with Manchester City were confirmed by club officials, who informed about a new five year-contract which is worth £52 million and will present David Silva with a weekly salary of £200,000.
By signing this contract David Silva will snub the offer to join Real Madrid. The La Liga champions from last season were willing to break their banks for David Silva, who has been in superb form for club and country, as of late.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder scored eight goals and came up with 22 assists in 49 games for Manchester City last season. David Silva also played a crucial role in Spain’s campaign to their Euro 2012 campaign.
Manchester City officials have informed that David Silva will ink the new deal with the club in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, David Silva stepped in front of media to confirm the news about his contract extension with Manchester City.
“My home is at City and I am totally satisfied there. My head is not at Real Madrid but at Manchester City,” David Silva said. “I’m grateful for my experience at City and I have improved as a player, in every sense, since I joined them. I didn’t know if I was capable of playing like this when I left Valencia.
“I’m on holiday right now, but my agents are negotiating a new deal with City and I think it’s likely we close it in a very short time.”
David Silva has led Manchester City to a many successful victories since his £24 million transfer from Valencia in 2010. Last season, David Silva played a pivotal role in taking Manchester City to their first English Premier League title in 44 years.
David Silva also talked about the potential big signings Manchester City were aiming for in the future.
“The club are preparing offers for players to improve the squad,” David Silva said. “The project will be very ambitious.”
