The emotionally volatile, yet extremely talented, DeMarcus Cousins, received an extension with the Sacramento Kings on a four-year deal worth $62 million on Thursday night. The Kings had until October 31st to extend Cousins, after which, he would’ve been a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
However, the Kings wanted to nip any speculation in the bud by extending Cousins right now.

Even though some may frown on the extension that Cousins received, there is no doubt that Cousins would’ve gotten over paid this off season had he become a restricted free agent; upon which the Kings would’ve had to overpay him or would’ve let him go for nothing.
Now, that Cousins will be a King for the foreseeable future, if he wants to be the face of the franchise, he needs to learn how to be raise his emotional intelligence and become a leader that others want to follow.
