I have recently heard that you guys down at the front office have beefed up the deal a bit with the Twins? Is that true? If so, DO IT NOW! Get the deal done Omar, we (and I speak for most Mets fans) have been awaiting this winter to hear what you have in store for us this coming season. If trading away 5 prospects is what it takes, you have my (and once again most Mets fans) approval to send them to Minnesota for Johan. Besides, maybe the Twins don't know that Fernando Martinez has been inconsistent, and that most of the prospects are still teens! If he has what it takes to get us to the World Series, I'm sure we wouldn't mind.

I agree totally; the first(and most selfish) reason being that by trading Johan to the Mets, he wouldn't pitch against the Twins, unless a rare inter-league matchup would occur. I think that most sane Twins fans have come to accept that the Twins can no longer afford Johan's contract; the practical thing to do, therefore, would be to get the best deal possible, then make the trade. Otherwise, they risk losing him to free agency(ala Torii Hunter and Carlos Silva). I have been a Twins fan since moving up here in the early 80's; I would like to see this resolved before Spring Training starts,(if at all possible).
