Believe me when I say that New England Patriots secondary was the among the worst in the NFL last season. As a matter of fact, Green Bay Packers were the only team whose defense was more poorly rated against the pass.

In spite of their lowly-ranked defense New England Patriots made it to the Super Bowl and after a tough competition went out against the New York Giants. So, how easy would be new England Patriots journey be if they were better defensively.

The Defensive backs coach Josh Boyer believes it would have been a lot easier and he is right. A better defensive line would have made New England Patriots the most balanced team in the NFL. Nonetheless, Josh Boyer is optimistic about the future.

Josh Boyer believes the talent he has in New England Patriots’ roster can take the franchise deep into the season once again.

If that doesn’t work out New England Patriots will always have Tom Brady to bail them out of trouble. Last season, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick admitted this was becoming a habit that the franchise needed to lose immediately.

In spite of Bill Belichick’s comments a lot of improvement cannot be seen on New England Patriots’ roster. Although, New England Patriots squad can boast about a long list of talented defensemen their squad cannot boast about defensive stars.

In spite of this Josh Boyer has strong faith in his new squad.

“One thing I will say about these guys. They have a great work ethic,” Josh Boyer said in a press conference where he also expressed his satisfaction over the squad that has been assembled for the 2012 season.

“They’re mentally tough. They work well together. They’re young. It’s fun to coach them as they progress, and as you see the progression go on with guys. They’re an outstanding group to work with. They’re self-less. We don’t have any individuals that put themselves in front of the team or the position. It’s really a great group to work with.”
