The Patriots were hemming and hawing with Welker over a couple million dollars, and the Broncos came in and gave him the offer he wanted, and he left Foxborough for Denver.

This year, it's Aqib Talib, who was expected to sign with the Patriots up until the Broncos came out of nowhere and signed him to a 6 year deal for $57 million, including $26 million in guaranteed money.

Talib was the Patriots' best player in the defensive secondary, which was already a somewhat porous unit to begin with. They'll need to address his loss quickly, or they'll go back to having one of the worst defensive secondaries in football.

The Patriots might target Darrelle Revis, since he's available for trade from the Bucs, and could be cut today if the Bucs can't find a taker for him. The Bucs just signed former Titans CB Alterraun Verner, showing that they're even more likely to get rid of Revis than they already were.

What should the Patriots do now that the Broncos have snatched up Talib?

So funny that Talib signs with the team that Belichick blamed for cheap-shotting him out of the AFC title game, at the hands (or shoulders) of former Patriot Wes Welker. Guessing signing Revis, who publicly despised the Pats, will make this all seem right... at least until New England signs Bernard Pollard.
