Denver Broncos sign rookie QB Zac Dysert
The former Miami quarterback selected 234th overall in the draft by the Broncos will now set to work to make the 53-man roster this year.
“I was talking to my agent before the draft and this was our No. 1 pick,” said Dysert, who also took part in the Broncos’ rookie minicamp this past weekend. Everything worked out perfectly. I did take a visit here — loved it from the minute I got here. “
“Before I got here I didn’t hear anything but good things about Denver, about the organization, about the team, about the coaches—everything,” continued Dysert. “It’s followed suit pretty much.”
Last year the Broncos went into the 2012 season with three quarterbacks on the roster – including starter Peyton Manning, and reserves Brock Osweiler as well as Caleb Hannie. But since then, they shuffled the quarterback depth chart a bit by releasing Hannie this offseason and signing undrafted rookie Ryan Katz. Dysert is expected to compete with Ryan Katz for the third-quarterback spot on the Broncos’ roster.
As a senior at Miami (Ohio), Dysert finished completing 302-of-480 of his passes with 3,483 yards, 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for the RedHawks. Dysert also missed three games as a sophomore with a lacerated spleen.
The 23-year-old Dysert finished his collegiate career as the RedHawks’ all-time leading passer with 12,013 yards, 73 touchdowns and 51 interceptions while completing 63.9% of his passes in 46 career games.
