Derek Jeter snubs rude Astros fan, gives ball to little girl

This is the greatest thing Derek Jeter has ever done on a baseball diamond

Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-USA TODAY SportsIf you've been reading my blog for a while, you probably know I'm not a huge fan of Derek Jeter. You probably won't see weekly updates about his little "farewell tour" this year.

In fact, it disgusts me.

I didn't mind when Mariano Rivera did it, because I respected Rivera as much as any player in the history of the game. Mo is easily the greatest closer of all time, and he has always held himself with class and dignity at all times, on and off the field.

Jeter, on the other hand, just seems a bit overrated to me. People are going to be gushing about him all year, and I simply don't think it is warranted. And it hasn't been warranted for years.

Still, Jeter impressed the hell out of me with this move. He snubbed a lady wearing an Astros shirt, and played an impromptu game of "keep-away" in order to give a call to a little girl. Class act, Jetes.

Check out the video. It's awesome AND hilarious:

When I saw the headline, I started chuckling, and my immediate thought was "Uh oh, can't wait to see what Pat has to say about this...."  Then I saw it was written by Pat, and it was "Wait, what?"

I agree, Classy move from a normally unclassy guy.
