Deron Williams Breaks NBA Record for 3ís in a Half
After receiving his third cortisone shot on his ankles over All Star Weekend, point guard Deron Williams has been injected with new life. Friday evening against the Washington Wizards, Williams set a NBA record with 9 three-pointers in the first half alone.
Williams finished the night with 42 points, while shooting 11-16 from downtown; just one three pointer shy of tying the NBA record.
"I definitely got hot -- especially in the first half. I just found myself really open," Williams said. "They were helping off me and going under screens, so I hit the first couple -- and when those shots leave your hand, they feel like they're good, so I just kept shooting. I feel great -- night and day from the beginning of the season. Mentally and physically."
Williams is only a 37% three-point shooter this season, but Williams is capable of exploding like this on any given night when totally healthy. Look for Williams to continue to shine for the rest of the season as his ankles get stronger and stronger.
