Deron Williams in Walking Boot
The ankles of Deron Williams makes Stephen Curry’s ankles look like steel. After an MRI this past Monday, Deron Williams received a cortisone shot and a platelet rich plasma injection in both of his ankles. The swelling in Deron’s ankles has not subsided and he will be in a walking boot till the end of the week.
To his credit, Williams has tried to play through the pain, but the constant re-aggravations on his ankles have made it impossible for him to be on the court. The few games that Deron has been healthy this season he put up All-Star numbers, however, those types of games have been few and far inbetween.
With Williams constantly in and out of the lineup, the Nets have looked like a team without a leader on the court. With Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce’s glory days clearly behind them, the Nets struggle to create offense and are often stuck in half court sets that result in a contested three pointer. The Nets can still make the playoffs if they can come out on top of the weak Atlantic Division, but they have to put together a few more miniature win streaks to climb to the top.
