NBA Triple Threat: Your daily roundup of last night's action in the Association.Detroit 96 Cleveland 89 Look out everyone. The Pistons seem to be, pardon the pun, firing on all cylinders. Allen Iverson is gelling better with his teammates and his 23 points and Rasheed Wallace's 21 helped the Pistons beat the Cavs and end the Cavs' 8-game winning streak. Sheed added 15 rebounds to his 21 points while Iverson chipped in 4 assists and 4 steals to his 23. LeBron had a big game with 25 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals, but he only shot 8-21 from the field and 0-4 from behind the three point line. Mo Williams chipped in with 25 but the other 7 Cavs that saw action could only muster 39 points. The Cavs lost their third straight game against the Pistons and have lost five of their last six and 10 of their last 12 games against Detroit. The Pistons on the other hand improved to 4-3 since Iverson joined the team.
Toronto 101 Miami 95 Dwyane Wade made NBA history but it wasn't enough to overcome Toronto's inside game. Wade scored 40 points, dished 11 assists, and rejected 5 shots and in doing so joined Alvan Adams (47 points, 12 assists, and 5 blocks, against Buffalo on Feb. 22, 1977) as the only players to have a 40-10-5 since blocks became an official stat, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The Toronto trio of big men, Chris Bosh, Jermaine O'Neal, and Andrea Bargnani, combined for 56 points, 32 rebounds, and 4 blocks to overpower the undersized Miami front court, giving the Raptors their second win over the Heat this week. The Raptors improved to 6-5 while Miami dropped back to 6-6.
Los Angeles Clippers 108 Oklahoma City 88 That's right, teams with a combined record coming into the game of 2-19 make it into the Triple Threat tonight. As I pointed out late Wednesday, the Clippers were projected at worst to win only 1 game. Well after tonight's 20 point win over the Thunder, the Clippers are now at worst projected to win 3 games. Living in Oklahoma, I had a buddy of mine ask me if I wanted to go to this game tonight but you would have had to pay me at least $100 to get me to go. These are the two worst teams in the NBA and I just don't see either team winning more than 20 games. All 5 Clippers starters scored in double figures, led by Chris Kaman's season high 25 points while Cuttino Mobley showed a pulse with 23 points. On the flip side, the Thunder were led by last season's rookie of the year Kevin Durant who scored 18 points and pulled down a monster 3 rebounds. That's right, 6'9" Kevin Durant pulled down one less rebound than 6'0" Bobby Jackson of the Kings did and Jackson played almost 15 minutes less than Durant. As a matter of fact, Durant averages only 4.4 rebounds per game, which is fewer than towering players like 6'3" Derrick Rose (4.8 per game), 6'0" Chris Paul (5.2 per game), and 5'11" TJ Ford (4.8 per game). That is just unacceptable from a player who averaged a double-double in college.
Best Lines
- Dwayne Wade: 40 points, 11 assists, 5 blocks, and 3 rebounds

News and Random Notes
- Quentin Richardson is upset that the Celtics were talking trash about winning the title last season in their Tuesday night game. I am with Richardson on this one. Why the hell is Paul Pierce talking trash to the New York Knicks about winning titles? Show some class Pierce.
- JJ Reddick is looking like he is pushing for trade again this season. CF last season said that the Detroit Shock of the WNBA should pursue him, I don't think he is good enough to even play for them.
- The Lakers had their players' association meeting Monday at the team training facility in El Segundo, much of it about planning for the future: finances, taxes and 401(k) plans. Luke Walton gives us this hilarious quote about player licensing, ""Thanks, Kobe Bryant. Thanks, LeBron James , you open the mail and have a check you don't even count on, that's beautiful." Or as Luke Walton calls it now, the 1st and 15th of every month.
