Devin Hester vs Redskins: Thursday Night NFL Network Game Thread
The good news is at least the Patriots vs Steelers isn't on the NFL Network tonight. The bad news is ... well, wait. More good news, they're televising two 5-7 teams in which will assuredly be a very ugly game so you won't miss much.

Washington hasn't had much time to practice with Sean Taylor's funeral and the Bears wouldn't look any good with weeks and weeks of practice. Our lone bright spot is the potential for Devin Hester to do something ridiculous. After taking last week off I'd say he's due. There's also the added fun of predicting which play the Bears will run next ... it's really easy.

53% of FanIQ are picking Chicago

You can go into all the advantages, disadvantages, X's and O's but I'm making my prediction on one simple formula. Here's the Bears Win/Loss sequence this season:

L - W - L - L - W - L - W - L - W - L - W - L - ?

Bears 17, Redskins 13

I'll be watching, so just in case you're hooked with the NFL Network feel free to complain about Ron Turner's offense with me here.

I won't be here for the game, but I'm saying Skins 20, Bears 17.

This is a must with for both teams to have a shot at the playoffs.  As long as the 'Skins kick away from Hester, I say 'Skins 17, Bears 3.

And by 3 I mean 3 picks thrown by SexyRexy!

I have a feeling the 'Skins will be emotionally exhausted and unfortunately get dominated.  Chicago gets their hopes up with 31  Skins continue the rough couple of weeks with 3.

The Redskins might as well give up now. If Easterbrook's decrees hold true, their cheerleaders are wearing too much for them to be victorious.

Playing defense against the Bears is like playing defense in original Tecmo Bowl.

You only have 4 options open which to choose.

If Grossman is injured there goes his Chicago career.  I honestly feel a little bad for him, he looked like a legitimate NFL QB last week.

That is until the 4th Quarter in a close game ... which is the story of his career thus far.

For those in Chicago and can't stand the broadcast team (I know I can't, too much of a whiny voice from Gumbel), you can turn to the feed in WPWR HD which is a little behind the NFL broadcast feed.  Then turn on your radio to 780 and it is right in sync.

It's no wonder that players & fans complain about officiating when you've got refs running in from across the field overruling plays, then starting arguments amongst each other.

Oh look, you have a HUGE playmaker on your team and you throw the ball in his direction and move the football. GENIUS!!! Charlie Weis would have even figured that out a few weeks ago.

I've been driving around a lot tonight and just got home.  I think Dennis Green does a pretty good job on radio.  You gotta get used to his scratchy voice, but he points out a lot of stuff that coaches notice that most announcers never mention.

I'm glad the 'Skins will get this win tonight.. They need it with all the emotions they've endured during the past week and a half. They nearly had that win against Buffalo, and I bet Joe Gibbs felt like crap after calling two consecutive timeouts and drawing that unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Just looking over the numbers here... Greise with 42 passes?  C'mon... I'm not a Bears fan (at all) but get with it.  The Bears playcalling is embarassing.  I know their running game isn't even worthy of being called below average, but you're not going to win with Brian Greise throwing the ball 42 times.

You're right, and especially when your starter gets injured early on in the game, and your backup may not be as game-ready as your starter. These two have been swapping starts all year though, so I wouldn't think that Griese wasn't prepared.

Honestly, I think the entire Bears coaching staff is an embarrassment. I'm tired of Lovie Smith's rhetoric. It was sad last year, but he got away with it becase the defense continually bailed the team out despite not playing all that well.

Ron Turner MUST be fired. There's no other way around it.

As far as the defense goes, I'll give them a pass because half are playing injured and the other half are out because of injury.

It's refreshing to put this season to bed, but discouraging because I'm not entirely sure it will get better next year.

I was impressed when I saw that Hester and Berrian combined for 12 catches and over 150 yards tonight.  I don't know if there is two more under-used talents in the league right now.  Those guys can make things happen.

I think Rex's injury is really unfortunate for the Bears.  At the very least they could see if he had gotten any better, but now that might not be possible anymore.  Tough situation for both Rex and the Bears.  That and they need to find a running back bad (Felix Jones?).

Berrian and Hester are exciting, however, when they aren't catching passes and running in the open field they aren't exactly doing their jobs. Hester can't block downfield, Berrian is average at best. I'm in favor of keeping Berrian, so long as it doesn't cost that much. If he wants a big deal, let him go elsewhere.

I don't think the Rex deal was too bad. I sure hope they weren't planning on keeping him anyway. For his and the Bears sake, both need a new start. Chicago needs to draft a QB if he's available in the right spot (Matt Ryan), work on the O-line and hope for better health on defense next year.

Yeah, but the Bears can't run the ball. You're not going to win with Griese throwing the ball 42 times, but you're not going to win with Adrian Peterson averaging 2.1 yards/rush. The Bears offensive line is atrocious. You can't run the ball simply for the sake of running it...it has to be productive, and it isn't.

You state the Bears' running game isn't even below average...so why continue to run?

At least it keeps the clock moving.  The Bears offense is kind of screwed no matter what.  However, a better balance would give both the run and the pass a better chance to be more effective.

I understand that is the conventional reason, but c'mon...the Bears running game isn't being stuffed because there's 8 in the box or anything. The passing game is effective...about 60% completion rate, about 300 yards passing...it could go the other way with the pass opening up the run, but the Bears can't even run when the pass is succeeding.

The. Bears. Can't. Run.

The offensive line seems to have aged 6 years over the offseason. It is pathetic to behold.

Oh, the Bears also won the time of possession battle.

Hopefully Jerry Angelo takes some blame for this (ok he won't publicly) and makes at least one decent move this offseason. That's area of need #1.

The Redskins/Bears game was just way too hard to pick. But I should have paid more attention to the win/loss record of the Bears. After I saw this post, it made it obvious who to go with.........................Or would it have?
L - W - L - L - W - L - W - L - W - L - W - L - ?
I still keep seeing that 4 game slide that the Redskins were on though.....................LOL!
