This just isn't fair. A staff that already has 6-0 Brandon Webb, 4-0 Micah Owings, and 4-1 Dan Haren, trotted out another filthy arm for his MLB debut.
Max Scherzer has been a heralded prospect for some time, first round pick from Missouri in 2006, and did nothing last night to disprove the hype.
Relieving Edgar Gonzalez after three rough inning, Max took care of all 13 batters he faced, striking out seven of them. His fastball often reach 98 mph. Good night.
All it takes is three great arms to win the World Series, and now the Diamondbacks add a fourth that will inevitable have a few rough outings, but is ultimately in a great position to develop as the 5th starter. No pressure, just keep making NL batters look silly.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks lost 6-4, but still have an MLB best 19 wins.

Halladay tosses complete game, loses Roy must have a hard time keeping his cool. Some of his best outings over the last two years have come on nights where his teammates behind him took the night off. Halladay took a three-hitter into the 9th, walked Ortiz, gave up a single to Manny and then got Youk'ed. Jon Lester allowed just one hit in eight inning. Red Sox 1, Blue Jays 0.
Brewers 2-0 on Opening Day Milwaukee had a reset of sorts on their season, getting Ben Sheets back on the mound and Mike Cameron in centerfield for the first time after his 25-game suspension. Worked out well, despite Sheets not exactly being sharp. Cameron was 3-for-5, scoring two runs and driving in two more. One of the most overlooked aspects of the NL contenders this year is the Cubs pitching. It's not good, aside from Zambrano. Sports Illustrated might want to keep that in mind. Brewers 10, Cubs 7.
So, about that Phil Hughes for Johan trade After six more earned runs in 3 innings, the savior is now 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA and 2.14 WHIP. He'll be good (I think), but that's not very promising. Tigers 6, Yankees 4.
