The Chicago Cubs would rather face any other pitcher, anytime.
I'm not sure of specifics, but I've watched enough Cubs games to know that Brandon Webb is presents the worst possible matchup. Soriano didn't stand a chance, but no panic button for me. I thought they'd lose this game.
Sure, I could jump on the 'Lou Piniella should have never pulled Carlos Zambrano' bandwagon that you're going to hear from everyone under the sun (and for good reason), but I'm OK with his decision. Would I personally have kept Zambrano in for at least another inning? Yes. I would have tried to save Marmol's first pressure situation for Game 2 when hopefully he possessed a lead. He's a nasty pitcher, but he's young and inserting him as the first reliever on the road in a tied playoff game is worthy of the questioning. That said, no spastic overreaction here. Let's see what happens the rest of the way. Carlos Zambrano might be stellar on Sunday without being overworked tonight and that could be the difference.
Ted Lilly versus Doug Davis tomorrow. Time for the Cubs big right handed bats to get some runs.
