Did ESPN Know the Bonds Indictment Was Coming? Why Else Would They Hire Mark Fainaru-Wada This Week
Just in case you're not familiar with Mark Fainaru-Wada, you'll be getting awfully cozy with him over the next week, month, year, century ... however long this takes. ESPN just happened to hire Mark earlier this week, who is the San Francisco Chronicle reporter who broke the BALCO steroids scandal. Essentially, he's the Game of Shadows guy. He's know a lot about Barry Bonds.

With the Mitchell Investigation report looming, it would be a smart business move to beef up one's steroid intelligence, but it's an odd coincidence that this happened in such a short time span. I have to believe the WWL was informed a while ago that this news would break late in the fall and they did the necessary work to prepare for endless coverage.

Get ready for a lot of Mark Fainaru-Wada (and Roger Cossack, of course).

There are currently 4 photos of Bonds on the front page of ESPN.com, one of which is taking up half the screen.

We're just lucky one of them isn't from inside his ass, taken by Pedro Gomez.

I always figured Pedro was the catcher.

I think Pedro is pretty happy about all of this ... he was thinking he'd be out of work forever. Now he can follow Bonds through his trials.

Between OJ and Bonds, ESPN is probably contemplating launching a new channel simply to cover their trials.

They were joking on ESPN Radio today about ESPNLaw. I think it's a good idea. At least give us the option of something else ... although we just shouldn't be watching at all.
