Dimitar Berbatov wants to leave Manchester United this summer
Dimitar Berbatov fervent season with Manchester United will most probably come to an end this summer. The Bulgaria international, Dimitar Berbatov admitted in a recent interview to Bulgarian channel BTV that he had a torrid season with Manchester United and that he would like to join a new club this summer.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has barely used Dimitar Berbatov this season although the 31-year old striker was English Premier League top goal scorer just last year.
Fallen out favor in the eyes of the Old Trafford boss, Dimitar Berbatov has failed to make it to the bench a couple of times. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has scored 9 goals in 21 appearances this season.
“My time at Manchester United ends. I no longer feel like a valuable part of this team,” Dimitar Berbatov said on BTV. “I struggled, I tried, I think I did well in the few opportunities that I received. I'm a little frustrated by the way this happened. I do not think I deserved it. Sir Alex knows how to talk before and after the match, after a loss or after victory.
“I went over 10 times to talk with the manager and he always told me that he would find a place in the team, but I'm constantly reserve. But I have dignity and I stopped these meetings, it is clear that (I'm) leaving United. Ultimately I obviously need to go after seeing that I am not appreciated.
“Now I'm looking for a new place for me, let's see who wants me. Anyway, I reached the highest level of football, but I know that I can give more to the game.”
Rumor has it Dimitar Berbatov could end up joining an Italian or German club. A number of top notch clubs from Serie A and Bundesliga have already stepped forward with bids for the former Bayer Leverkusen striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Dimitar Berbatov reckons Manchester United should have sold him off last season. Dimitar Berbatov still has a lot of potential left in him. Dimitar Berbatov could easily star as a first team forward in an underdog team such as Inter Milan, Wolfsburg or Werder Bremen.
Dimitar Berbatov’s former clubs Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing the striker with interest.
