Doc Rivers Believes Clippers Need to Run More
Newly crowned head coach, Doc Rivers, believes that the Los Angeles Clippers need to run more than they did last year. Despite winning 56 games last year, Rivers believes that the Clippers roster can be better utilized if they run-n-gun a bit more.
“As athletic as we are, we didn't run enough,” Rivers said. “We have to get up and down the floor more offensively. We have to do a better job of our spacing offensively. And we have to find a way to close games. Over anything, that's what stands out. We have to execute as a group better. Each guy has to buy into that execution, and so there's things we have to do."
Since the arrival of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, the culture of the Clippers franchise has changed dramatically. However, the Clippers haven’t been able to take that extra leap in the playoffs. Despite being ahead 2-0 against the Memphis Grizzlies in the playoffs this past season, they lost 4 in a row thereafter. If Rivers can get the Clippers to push the tempo a bit more and execute down the stretch, it may be just what the Clippers need to advance into the NBA Finals.
