Vasquez-USA TODAY SportsThe Los Angeles Clippers are set to play the Los Angeles Lakers on the NBA’s opening night. This renewed rivalry has been a big topic in recent years, but especially since Doc Rivers covered up the Lakers’ championship banners. The coach talked about both teams saying:

"I hear all this stuff about what they’re not going to be. I think they’re going to be a pretty good team." - Doc Rivers on the Lakers

However, Doc Rivers said he is in a rivalry with the Lakers. "I’ve been it for a long time. To me, I’m in the same rivalry."

There’s no doubt that Doc has a need to beat the Lakers since he coached the Celtics for so long, but he didn’t confirm that they are the Clippers’ biggest rivalry. DeAndre Jordan had some things to say about it too:

DeAndre Jordan said Clippers-Lakers isn't a rivalry. He said Clippers-Grizzlies is a rivalry.

Kobe Bryant will not be playing for the Lakers on opening night.
