Congratulations to Planet Green. They are the first network dedicated entirely to environmental issues. At least they are until this doesn't prove profitable and then they will take the Court TV approach and become Tru or some other nonsense. Anyway, at the Nationals game last night there was a kick-off event for the network. It was actually a make-up kick-off from a rain out earlier this home stand.
Now, I have already said my peace regarding the appearance of pink in the MLB for Mothers Day/Breast Cancer Awareness and I am bracing for the impending Fathers Day/Prostate Cancer Awareness and the bringing of blue to non-blue teams. I get that these are good causes but I haven't been much for using a uniform for social awareness. So, you can imagine my pleasure at them wearing green New Era Nats on the field for last nights game. I tried to embed a picture of this but FanIQ must have found it as appalling as I did because it wouldn't let it happen. There is a picture on my profile if you want to torture yourself.
This actually is even worse than the pink and baby blue for cancer awareness as this was sponsored by a corporation to promote a new product. Why not just go the whole nine yards and say right on the jersey. At least they we wouldn't be pretending to promote environmental awareness.
Sometimes, I feel like I am going sane in a crazy world.
