Well, Brett.  You've had a good run here.  No, I'm not talking about your Hall of Fame career.  Nah, I'm talking about the last five weeks.  You've taken us through highs and lows.  You've teased us with a return and then delivered a trip to Green Bay.  Heck, you even resurrected Ari Fleisher.

But now, it's time to trade in your snow gear for something else.  Cheese doesn't last forever, you know.   (unless it's Easy Cheese, of course)  There's been all kinds of crazy talk about taking retirement packages, going to New York to play for the Jets (ha ha ha ha ha), and many other scenarios.  I'd like to throw out a few suggestions I came up with on my own.  Feel free to take any of these ideas and run with them.  I don't need any acknowledgement.  When I see that frown turn upside-down, I'll know my work is done.

1.  Give something back to the community.
You know, times are tough for regular folk.  Gas is over $3.50 and people are foreclosing on mortgages at a record rate.  Why not take all of that extra time you're going to have on your hands and help out your community.  I hear the Hattiesburg Zoo needs some security help.  Sounds like a perfect gig.  Grab a few brews, pull up a chair, and watch the zebras work their magic in peace for once.



2.  Work For Diddy!
Don't tell me you hadn't already thought of this one.  Diddy needs help and he needs it now.  Who's more clutch than you?  You've been tested in the fire and you've got the bling to show for it.  Diddy may have plenty of bling, but he didn't have to take the beatings you've taken to earn it.  When Diddy needs a cold drink and it's do-or-die, who else could deliver?  This one is all you, brotha!  Just don't forget the little people when you make it big.

3.  Veep?
Since you're totally going to have plenty of time on your hands, why not throw your hat into the Veepstakes ring?  Vice President Brett Favre?  The beauty of it is, at this stage in the game it doesn't matter which candidate you choose.  Whichever one you support will likely get a great bump from your popularity (outside of the Green Bay Front Office) and take the lead in the race.  Imagine that - making a decision early could have positive benefits!  I guess MVP could now mean Most Vicest President.  Hey, our country will elect anyone, as we've proven.  If I were you, I'd go with the old guy.  You might have a better shot at regaining the lead role with that one!

4.  Resume Your Movie Career
You were great in There's Something About Mary.  I think that you and John Elway should take all of the extra time and extra money and invest in the movies.  I could see the two of you bringing back the Revenge of the Nerds series.  Or you and Michael Strahan could bring back (again) the Odd Couple.  Just try to avoid the O.J. route.  Or the Jim Brown route.  Or Mike Ditka.  On second thought, let's try to avoid option #4 - this one hasn't worked out too well for many former players.


5.  Kill Jeff Garcia's Career
Poor, poor Jeff Garcia.  Can this guy ever catch a break?  Yeah, he's got a smokin' hot wife.  But his career has been cursed.  He has some success in San Francisco, but he gets hit by the T.O. Bus.  Then he stinks it up in 2003 and follows that by getting arrested for DUI.  He goes to Cleveland and Detroit and pretty much stinks it up there, too.  (all the while dodging questions about his sexual preferences - did I mention he has a hot wife?  I think Elton John was married, too!)  Then he has some success in Philadelphia, but gets hit by the McNabb Bus.  Does he give up?  Nope.  He goes to Tampa and leads them to the playoffs.  And what does he get in exchange for his hard work and perseverance?  He gets hit by the Brett Favre Bus.
