Drivers Weigh In Opinions About Jeremy Mayfield's Return At Daytona Press Confrence
Jeremy Mayfield Won't Race At Daytona, But Other Drivers Are More Than Happy To Comment About His Case

Yes, Jeremy Mayfield's coming back, but it won't be this weekend at Daytona. Having missed this afternoon's time deadline to register in person, Jeremy Mayfield won't be making his return to racing this weekend. All the same, today's press confrence inevitable turned to other drivers' opinions about having Mayfield back out on the track with them. Some were indiffrent, some were ok with it, and some tried very hard to nicely say, I don't want you out here...

“Ultimately it was the judge’s decision to turn it out how he turned it out, He’s (Jeremy Mayfield) free to race which is fine. If he’s out there on the race track with me then it doesn’t bother me. Normally we’re ahead of him anyway.”

-Kyle Busch

"I don’t know of any people, offhand, or many people that have ever had a problem with Jeremy, I don’t iknow if we’ll ever know if there’s a way to find out or not if it’s right or wrong, certainly, for some reason, if it was wrong, you feel bad for the guy because he’s been kind of crucified already. If he was in the wrong, then we’ll all want to know that, too, and want it to get worked out right so there’s no question of the drug policy going forward.”

-Matt Kenseth

“I’m totally behind NASCAR. So if he’s on the track, you have to race with him. I would say that they (fellow team-mates) are the same as me. Everybody out here wants to race and they want to race hard and race with people that are in the same state of mind that you’re  in. If people are into other things, they should go do those things by themselves and not be on a race track going 200 mph with other racers.”

-Kasey Kahne

I think the best thing is just to wait and see what the real facts are and what comes out,  I think all of the speculation is damaging to both NASCAR and Jeremy, so I’ll just wait to see what comes out of it. But, I feel safe with all the drivers on the track. I don’t have any problem racing anyone.”

-Carl Edwards

I think one of the more telling signs at how the garage feels is that 4 separate teams turned down Mayfield's pleas to drive for them this weekend.  On the surface, drivers are more then likely going to toe the company line but behind the scenes, I'm thinking it wont take long before Mayfield is the offical outcast in the Sprint Cup Series

I certainly don't condone anyone driving under the influence of any substance, but a couple things that came out during trial make me wonder if Jeremy is not telling the truth. On nascar now they said that the levels he supposedly tested would kill most human beings. Secondly no other 2nd test was done independantly to back up the test results by nascar thus insuring no errors were made.  Lastly he shows no outward signs of being a methhead! In the USA you are innocent till proven guilty so I am reserving judgement for now until I know more, but if he is not guilty, I'm afraid his reputation has already been permantly damaged :( If he is guilty however, I hope they don't let him drive anything bigger than a tricycle and behind bars would be the place.

For once I agree with Kyle Busch.  Jeremy might finish 29th on a GOOD day.

LOL I wouldn't know what a meth user looked or acted like Darren. Just listening to what they were talkin about on tube last night. You may b right! There are some Mayfield fans on facebook that swear he's getting railroaded by NASCAR. Kinda like Michael Jackson the truth usually slowly slips out!

does anyone know how long meth stays in your system enough to give a positive test?

DW weighed in when they interviewed him after the announcement that he was a contender for the HOF.  He said, Jeremy should be JUMPING at the chance to have a hair follicle sample done and the fact that he isn't is telling in it's own right.
(BTW, I'm paraphrasing a paraphrase of a paraphrase, so if I got his comments wrong, blame me, not DW)

This is not the 1st time there's been some suspicion surrounding Mayfield right?

It's funny no one cares that Stallworth was drunk and high while driving a Bentley and killing a man, but they get their panties in a wad when the alleged impaired driver is running next to them.

Wow.

Maybe we should drug test every one (athlete or not) from birth to death on a daily basis.  Big Brother approves.

ROTFLMBO at the Shrub!! I am absolutely livid that Jeremy is going to be allowed back on the track, and that he had the balls to take it outside of Nascar. Nascar has always been one to handle it's own dirty laundry, and for me, Jeremy has just stepped way outside the box, way too many times in his very unillustrious career.. He doe not deserve to be on that track!! JMHO

let me ask you all this... i drive an ambulance for a living... would you want me to be on the road driving lights and siren's 10 miles over the posted speed with you or your faimly on the road and i was high on meth or better yet would you want your faimly member in my ambulance and i was driving high on meth?

i don't care if mayfield is running 29th or worse on the track if he's high and wrecks someone is somewhere around him and has a possibility of being taken out because of his stupidy

No big loss considering he never had a reputation of any merit to start with!

crystal meth and cocaine can both hang around in your urine track for about 48 to 72 hours , Mary Jane on the other hand sticks to the lining of your pancris and soluates at a very slow rate , wich leaves reidue for about 21 to 37 days , thank god it was only a random and it was only meth huh ,
