Didier Drogba decided to pull a poor man's Zidane - or if you prefer, an A-Rod Special - in the Champions League Final that could have very well cost Chelsea the title. I'm not sure what the hell he was thinking as he slapped Nemanja Vidic in the face right before the game was about to go to the penalty shootout, but it wasn't smart. And that would be being EXTREMELY kind.
Just so you understand, Drogba getting ejected when he did would be the equivalent of Tom Brady getting ejected during the final two minute drive of a tie game at the Super Bowl. Times 10. So, uh, not good. I'm sure Chelsea fans will let him know that.
Anyhow, the game was reasonably exciting, even for non-soccer fans. Cristiano Ronaldo scored first for Man U before Frank Lampard knocked in the equalizer for Chelsea. The game went in to
But Drogba's boneheaded slap to Vidic's face made him unavailable for the shootout, which naturally Chelsea lost 6-5.
