Your Good ol' Dusty Baker is returning to the north side of Chicago this evening. This should be fun.
Because I wouldn't dare miss out on the fun of this, I plan to head down to Wrigley either tonight or tomorrow.
Should I boo? That's the prevailing question floating about the local airwaves today. Cubs fans are a far cry from Philly's finest, usually we're too engrossed in our beer, but of late we've been extremely quick on the trigger. Alfonso Soriano strikes out. Boo. Ted Lilly wakes up in the morning. Boo. Inevitable, Dusty will get a heavy helping of the birds.
What would be incredibly funny, and criminal, is instead of booing Dusty, we booed Darren Baker. I think that's my decision. After all, Jay Mariotti tells me I shouldn't be concerned with Dusty.
Anyways, more important action happened last night ...
Sox 6, Indians 4 Joe Borowski blows his 2nd save of the year and is promptly placed on the DL. That's without a doubt my favorite transaction in all of sports and I wish I could be there when his injury is decided. Sore elbow? Tired arm? Sucks? It's worth noting David Ortiz seems to be fine now that his jersey has been dug up from Yankee Stadium. Nice work, Hank.
Tigers 11, Twins 9 Look at that! 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th to come back from a 9-5 deficit and actually win a game. Luck has finally swung their way as Ivan Rodriguez his a deep ball to left that would have stayed in the park, had it not went into Denard Span's glove and then up and over the right field wall. Don't call it a comeback.
A's 2, White Sox 1 Guess who has the best record in the AL? No, guess again. Yes, the Oakland Athletics. Huston Street now has four saves after a rough first week.
