USA Today released its yearly NFL salaries report and Dwight Freeney tops the 2007 list ... by a lot. The Colts injured defensive end will make $30.75 million, 13 million more than the next highest paid player Marc Bulger. Despite injury, I think Dwight Freeney is worth every penny and should always be among the league's highest paid. (Note: he doesn't have the top contract in the NFL, his signing bonus like many others is the reason for his top placement.) Freeney is arguably the most valuable player in the NFL, and at the very least a part of the discussion. The Indianapolis Colts were able to nearly beat New England this year in large part of the Patriots having to gameplan around him, and he still put pressure on Tom Brady.
Other top money players this year of note:
2nd - Marc Bulger, Rams - $17.0
5th - Robert Geathers, Bengals - $14.0
12th - Vince Young, Titans - $13.1
14th - Joey Porter, Dolphins - $13.0
Signing bonus taken out of the equation, who should be the NFL's highest paid player?
