According to Dwight Howard, he will not make any final decisions about staying or leaving LA until the end of the season.  However, he has dropped several hints that he may be wearing the purple and gold for a very long time.

"This is a great place," Howard said. "I love the coaching staff and I love the organization for everything they've done for me since I got traded here.  Hopefully I'll have a long career here in L.A."  After all of the drama down in Orlando, Howard called LA an "ideal situation.”  He also reiterated that there is no timetable for his return.  "I feel good; better every day."

There is a lot that can happen between the start of the season and the end of the season, but it would be more shocking if Howard left such a prestigious franchise than if he stayed.  Additionally, Howard has also purchased a new home in Los Angeles, so if all goes well this season – and there’s no reason it shouldn’t – look for Dwight to be the new face of the franchise as Kobe ages well into the sunset.

Orlando also use to wag their tail when Dwight spoke with such hints. Then his alter ego would cause whip lash with the reality from his handlers. If Howard is willing to spend the next two years down wind to Kobe's wrath and then two years rebuilding a post Kobe Lakers, he's not the selfish spinster that he has shown.

Orlando is not Los Angeles.  Yes they have Disney World but after that the comparison ends.  And the Magic are not the Lakers.  I think the temptations and $$ are here and it will be his team after Kobe retires. A big incentive.  He was restless in Orlando (just like Shaq) because they were and are a team of no destiny.
