Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement-US PRESSWIREFor a while, Dwight Howard has been saying that the only team he'd be willing to sign a long-term extension with is the Brooklyn Nets. That made most teams a bit hesitant to trade away elite players and/or several first round picks.

Now, Howard is saying that he would also be willing to extend with the Lakers.

This opens up the possibility of a trade centering around Howard for Andrew Bynum.

Now, the Magic are concerned about the flip side of the deal. If they're going to trade for Bynum, they want to be sure that he's willing to sign an extension to stay in Orlando.

That might be the tricky part.

Once the Magic trade Howard, they'll be a shell of their former selves. Orlando is a nice place, but it's certainly not Miami or LA.

It's not inconceivable that Bynum wouldn't have any interest whatsoever in signing an extension with a team that doesn't have a promising future and isn't a premiere destination for free agents.

Howard has finally acquiesced, but will the Magic find a deal appealing enough to make them pull the trigger before the season starts?
