Growing up, I was a huge Nintendo fan. I would play it for hours and hours. Now that I am older, I still do that but I never forget those days of playing Nintendo.
Well as I am sure all of you remember, game maker Konami put the exact same code in every single one of their games. It was called the "Konami Code".
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start
Anytime you put it in great things will happen. Well, for a period of time this afternoon, typing in the Konami Code anywhere on ESPN.com made unicorns pop up on the screen.
[UPDATE: Here's a cached page where you can still make the unicorns appear]
Above is a screen shot taken minutes after I put the Konami Code in and now ESPN.com is the land of the Unicorns. Not only did you get lots of sparkly and magical unicorns, it also changed every article to Comic Sans font. The more you pushed any keys, the more unicorns you got.
According to people I know who do tech work, this sounds like it was an Easter Egg. It also sounds to me like whoever did it is likely going to get fired.
