Eagles Versus Giants NFL Divisional Playoff Live Thread
Plaxico Burress Ain't Walking Through That Door [Eagles Versus Giants Live Thread]
As I'm sure most of you know, the Eagles and Giants are intensely bitter rivals. When you combine that with the additional playoff intensity, this is going to be one heck of a game.

The Eagles come into this game having been able to get past the Tarvaris Jackson Minnesota Vikings, which I don't exactly consider to be that big of an accomplishment. But they are riding a huge wave of momentum of late, and any time Donovan McNabb starts clicking, things can get real bad for the opposing team.

On the flip side, the Giants went 1-3 down the stretch without Plaxico Burress, who won't be walking through that door today. There's no question that this team is nowhere near the same without Plax, and we'll see how much that hurts them against a stellar Philly secondary.

68% of FanIQ is going with the Giants to win this game. I'm less sure. These playoffs have been totally nuts, so I'll just refrain from giving a prediction.

Feel free to chat up the game here or on the always lively game page.

Yesterday's TEN/BAL was great defense.  This game is just bad offense.

These playoffs are so absurd, I would say the Giants, but who the heck knows?  (I did at least get the Ravens right)

The only way they could get more absurd would be if the Lions somehow managed to get into the playoffs for a game.

cant really blame them with the way the wind is. 2 teams that stop the run very well, and you dont wanna throw it a lot.

...they take the 5 yard run by the Giants away when the clock simultaneously hits as they snap the ball yet when 1.5 seconds runs off the playclock after it hits zero and nothing is called what is wrong with officials now adays?

The Steelers... in the AFC consolation game.

But seriously... be honest with yourself... the Steelers aren't going to score 50. Everyone knows their offense sucks. No need to kick a guy when he's down and make fun of his team after they just lost like that. He wasn't insulting you or the Steelers... just stating the facts.

HAHA that is funny didn't we beat you when we played you?  Anyway the Titans "Plaxico'd" themselves and still were very close in the Ravens game..We were missing CJ (half the game) who was DESTROYING the Ravens D and Kevin M. whom of which are both Pro Bowlers.. Lets just say that you guys are lucky the Titans had a horrible game or you guys would be going home next week if not this week.
P.S. sorry for talking about another game..again..

Was only referring to high school team comment you could have at least said College. This weekend there have been some great games. I was actually pulling for the Titans. Pat you are right my team could be watching Chargers play Ravens next week.

I think the consolation games would be better than the actual Championship games next week.  Panthers/Giants and Titans/ Pitt or SD...

the giants are dead, they just laid down in the game.  they had choices in the first half and went all hyper-conservative.  the eagles earned this.

He (most likely) just beat  one of the top 4  teams in the Nfl and they got a wild card spot BY CHANCE and had to play a decent game to get here...give him a break.

I could take a shot at your grammar but I would rather say that this year has been a set of very interesting play off games (dumb)..and a fumble...

1/11/09

hahahaha that may have been the funniest fumble I have ever seen...it was like a little kid trying to do a crossover and dribbling the ball out of bounds...nice fumble Steve Smith (the sucky one)

mcnabb should be able to choose one of the giants players' wives to go home with; who cares about picking up the damn phone.  joe buck is a racist fool (ask randy moss).

this game wasn't about rest or plax, it was about hyper-conservative play calling and execution.  you have a battering ram (a healthy jabocs) and you kick field goals on 4th and 2?!?!?!??!?!?!  that is why they lost.  they played this game like the browns game, like a throw away game in october.  the giants should be ashamed of themselves.

and really the only problem was the play calling..defense has been great all year and they definitely deserve to be playing in the nfc champ game

but when u have plax on the field, u need a corner to cover him and a another guy on that side of the field. without plax, that 2nd guy can be used in the middle of the field to stop the run instead. no plax greatly affected the giants once he was out

I searched for maybe 5 minutes, then realized how many people in the world had the Seahawks at 11-5 and NFC West Champs...so just stopped looking.

I did want that $3.50 though.

they've had weeks to get used playing without plax.  look at the panthers game.  they fell into the worst trap ever - they played soft, made conservative play calls, and didn't ride what works.  the eagles didn't stop the giants, the giants stopped themselves.  that's the worst thing you can ever do in the playoffs.
