Eagles let go TE Evan Moore, sign 9 UDFAs
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired the Evan Moore off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks late last season. The five-year veteran Evan Moore was brought in to fill-in for tight ends Brent Celek and Clay Harbor, who were sidelined with injuries during the stretch of Philadelphia Eagles’ final few regular season games last year. But Evan Moore ended up playing just one game for the Philadelphia Eagles, as he too sustained an injury in Week 16 and sat out the regular season finale against the New York Giants.
Evan Moore was unable to catch a pass for the New England Patriots and dropped a potential game-tying touchdown pass quarterback Nick Foles, while playing against the Washington Redskins last season.
The 28-year-old Evan Moore’s release comes on the heels of the Philadelphia Eagles’ selection of Stanford tight end Zach Ertz in the second-round of the 2013 NFL draft last weekend.
Evan Moore also previously played in the regular season for the Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns during his NFL career. The five-year veteran Evan Moore played 14 games for the Seattle Seahawks last season, making one catch for six yards before he was let go , with the final few games of the 2012 season still remaining.
However, the former undrafted free agent Evan Moore initially joined the league as after signing with the Green Bay Packers in 2008. But after sustaining a knee injury in a preseason game, Evan Moore spent his rookie season on the injured reserve, and part of the following season with the Cleveland Browns.
Despite considerable time in the league, Evan Moore has never developed his pro game, which likely resulted in his release by the Philadelphia Eagles, as the time to prove himself in the NFL is running out.
The Philadelphia Eagles also announced addition of nine undrafted free agents on Monday, two days after the end of the NFL draft.
The list of the undrafted free agents signed by the Philadelphia Eagles is as follows:
· RB Miguel Maysonet, Stony Brook
· LB Jake Knott, Iowa State
· OG Matt Tobin, Iowa
· P Brad Wing, LSU
· RB Matthew Thomas, TCU
· C Kyle Quinn, Arizona
· DT Isaac Remington, Oregon
· WR/RB Russell Shepard, LSU
· DT Damion Square, Alabama
