East Carolina football: Pirates claim ownership of North Carolina

ECU thinks it owns the state of North Carolina

East Carolina took it to North Carolina earlier this season, beating the Tar Heels 55-31 in a Week 5 non-conference matchup at Chapel Hill. Now that the Pirates are coming off a 42-28 road win at N.C. State, and are claiming they own the state of North Carolina.

Apparently someone spilled some dollar signs for a billboard advertisement and used it to show that ECU is the top dog, claiming it's "ARRRRR State!"

This is all in good fun, but I'm sure Duke would have something to say to that if it had the chance—the Blue Devils are 9-2 and in a position to play in the ACC Championship Game. Unless they meet in a bowl game, the two teams will not see each other in 2013.

The Pirates are 9-2 (6-1 C-USA East) and need a win at Marshall this weekend to play in its conference championship.
