Since the Lakers beat the Celtics in L.A on Christmas Day, I have read multiple articles claiming that the Lakers recent win over Boston doesn't mean as much as some Lakers' fans are making it out to be.
I do agree that the Lakers' win doesn't really mean that much. However, I'm not buying the "it's just a regular season game" excuse.
I have no doubt that both teams played their hardest in such an important match-up on Christmas day and I believe the main reason the game doesn't really mean that much is because the Lakers still haven't beaten the Celtics in Boston.
If you remember the Lakers won 2 out of the 3 games they played against the Celtics in L.A in the NBA Finals. The real problem was that they were 0-3 in Boston.
Once again this year the Lakers aren't near the same team on the road as they are at home. The Lakers are 15-1 at home and 9-4 on the road.
The problem for the Lakers is that because of Boston's weak Eastern Conference schedule, they will most likely have a better record than the Lakers and thus will have home-court advantage in the NBA Finals.
As much as Lakers would like to believe that this win means that they are as good or better than the Celtics, the truth is that we already know the Lakers can beat Boston in L.A.
The question remains whether they can beat the Celtics in Boston.
