One of the best (worst?) Ebay auctions that I've seen (and bid on, actually) recently was one for a depressed Michigan fan, trying to sell off his allegiance to the highest bidder. The deal was basically that whoever paid him the most would be able to choose who he would root for, instead of the Wolverines. He would burn all of his Michigan gear, buy new gear for his newly chosen team, learn their history, and basically do everything it takes to suddenly become a "real" fan of that team.
I put in a bid for this one, but was quickly outbid, when some Michigan State fan topped my $20 offer. Last I saw, the bidding was up to $81 with almost 9 days left, which is really pretty remarkable. I was actually thinking about auctioning off my fanhood for all my teams. If I could get around $100 a pop, that would almost be worth it.
Nah, never mind.
But seriously, folks, if you have the extra money to blow on stupid crap like buying off other people's fanhood, then why not donate it to a worthy cause, or at least take a few minutes to support one? I don't normally do this, but a couple HS friends of mine (Ryan and Kristen) have far worthier causes. Check them out.
