The Fort Sill Apache Tribe of Oklahoma plans to remove its bingo machines this week from a yet-unopened casino in Akela. An official from the Fort Sill Apache Tribe said the tribe had leased the devices from a second Oklahoma tribe, the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Now, this tribe said that they want the machines back The Fort Sill Apache Tribe has about 50 slot-machine-like bingo machines at its Akela trust land, located east of Deming. But the Fort Sill Apache Tribe has bigger problems. Two month ago, the federal agency in charge of regulating tribal gaming warned them not to open this casino, situated in southern New Mexico because they do not have legal grounds to conduct gambling. Since then, they have opend the restaurant but the casino remained in limbo.
