I want to give my tribute to Elvis, to some this is really meaningless, but to me this is a beautiful man that gave to so many.
When Elvis Presley was born on January 8,1935, few people could have predicted that he would go on to live the 'American Dream'. His family was poor they could not afford adequate medical care; as a result his older twin brother,Jesse, was stillborn - a loss that was never forgotten, either by his mother or by Elvis himself.
1948 The Presley's moved to Memphis and the rest is History....
some facts for you...
Graceland has over 600,000 visitors a year
Elvis played over 1,100 concerts between 1969 - 1977
His Charitable donations include the following: he raised over 65,000 toward the building of the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor with a benifit concert in Hawaii
He raised 75,000 for the Kui Lee Cancer fund in Hawaii, from sales of audience tickets for rehearsals for the Aloha From Hawaii TV special
plus FOR MANY YEARS, Elvis gave 1,000 annually to each of the 50 Memphis Charities
He also Was a strong Christian man, he read the Bible almost daily and he also had Bible studies held at Graceland..
He only received 3 Grammy Awards in his life time.....they were all for his Gospel Albums..
These are only a few reasons why i have always loved this man...it is shame that so many look at only his negative lifestyle. But he really isn't any different than any other celebrity as of today. He was and will always will be the King of Rock n' Roll...God Bless you all
