It's been a while since I've actually watched a significant portion of ESPN's Monday Night Countdown, but last night my session was rewarded with the continued hilarity of "Emmitt Speak."

Thanks to Awful Announcing (obv.) for this clip where Smith tries to provide some wisdom about Matt Cassel's place within the New England Patriots.

While the punch line of this video is Emmitt saying Cassel needs to earn his "rites of patches," to me the more hilarious portion is the brief exchange that precedes this gaffe. Steve Young transitions over to the former Cowboy who begins with a lame "between a rock and a hard place" reference. Check out Young's face, turning his eyes and face down and away, resigned to the fact that Emmitt was going to commit yet another abuse of the English language.
