I don't know about you but I always wonder at the end of most championship games "What do they do with the losing teams gear?" Well it turns out that the NFL, in partnership with World Vision, help clothe 3rd World Countries. So in Niger, Uganda and Sierra Leone, the Bills are one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history and as of tonight, The New England Patriots have won their second Super Bowl in 10 years. By order of the NFL the losing teams gear is never to appear on television or on eBay, and never even to be seen on American soil. The gear will be shipped Monday morning to a warehouse in Sewickley, Pa., near Pittsburgh, where they will become property of World Vision. The gear is then flown, along with school and medical supplies, into a major city and then is driven to one of the villages where World Vision staff members work. World Vision then distributes the shirts and caps at a community center, with each family getting about two official Super Bowl "Champions" gear.
“Where these items go, the people don’t have electricity or running water,” said Jeff Fields, a corporate relations officer for World Vision. “They wouldn’t know who won the Super Bowl. They wouldn’t even know about football.”
So all of you Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks fans only need to head on over to 3rd world countries to get your official Super Bowl gear. Other professional sports leagues use a similar strategy in dealing with losing teams apparel. MLB destroys the clothing that was made for its runners-up and the NBA donates it to an overseas charity.
