Who’s one step closer to hoisting Lord Stanley? The Wrap-Around is your daily update for last nights’ NHL Playoff action.Penguins Take 3-0 Series Lead After Road Win.
They say you're never truly in danger in a series until you've lost at home. Well the Rangers are officially in trouble, if they weren't before. The Rangers had control on shots, with 39 to the Penguins 17. Marc-Andre Fleury played a great game, making 36 of those saves. The usually dominant Henrik Lundqvist was dominated by the Penguins. Marian Hossa scored quickly to give the Pens a 1-0 lead. Martin Straka would tie it, but shortly after the Penguins would score twice more to end the first, one by Georges Laraque and the other on a powerplay by Evgeni Malkin. The Rangers would score back-to-back in about a minute during the 2nd to tie it. (Ryan Callahan, Jaromir Jagr). Penguin coach Therrien was not a fan, and called a timeout. The Rangers wouldn't score again. Malkin scored on another powerplay in the 2nd, and Ryan Malone would score early 3rd, en route to a 5-3 win. The Penguins will look to complete the sweep in game 4 on Thursday in New York.
Dallas' Takes Improbable 3-0 Series Lead After 2-1 OT win.
Based on the earlier statement, the Sharks were in trouble after game one. Surprisingly, the 2 seed lost games 1 and 2 at home, and unfortunately for them, they just lost game 3 on the road. As in game 1, this game would be decided in overtime. Dallas had 29 shots to the Sharks 20 in the game. Patrick Marleau scored shorthanded on a breakaway late in the 1st to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. The Stars would not match until early in the 3rd on a Sergei Zubov powerplay goal. In overtime, Mattais Norstrom scored 4:37 into extra time to give the Stars the win. With that, Dallas now leads 3-0 in the series, and look to end the series tonight.
Red Wings Beat Avs In Colorado 4-3; Take 3-0 Series Lead.
It looks like three of four series could be over before they seemingly get started. Statistically, this game was even. Detroit had 35 shots, while Coloardo had 33. Cody McLeod scored in the first to give the Avs the lead, but Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen would each score goals to give Detroit a 2-1 lead after the first. Datsyuk would score again in the 2nd to give Detroit a 3-1 lead. A few minutes later, Andrew Brunette's powerplay goal got the Avalanche within one. But Henrik Zetterberg would score a powerplay goal to make it 4-2 after the 2nd. Brunette would score again in the 3rd, but it wouldn't be enough, as the Red Wings won 4-3. Detroit leads the series 3-0 and can end it in game 4 from Colorado on Thursday.
